I relocated 9 Gulf Fritillary caterpillars today that had eaten most of the Passion Vine they were on and were facing starvation. I drove them to a nearby location that I knew had what they needed, as the area where they were was one of the few areas left after the landscape had been pillaged by humanity’s insatiable appetite for land. I thought as I drove there that there were ten beating hearts in the car, not counting any unseen creatures hidden, that were filled with the vitality of the Universe.
Ten beating hearts with ancestry reaching back billions of years. It is an euphoric and inspiring feeling to realize your body is but a manifested breath of the spirit energy that flows throughout the cosmos. To know that all about you are connected to you, connections that the culture of civilization tries to extinguish everyday.
This deep denial that permeates this culture is all crushing and powerful but can’t be extinguished in everyone. There will always be the Nature mystics who sense and feel the connection of all being and who will never be silenced by the cruel tyranny of human supremacists.
Nature is where our reality lies, not in the decaying edifice of this cultures divorced illusions of grandeur. Our reality lies in the richness and life giving affirmations of earth, oceans and winds, the soil, water and air. Our sanity lies here and in the planets and stars. This is what holds us stable as living breathing human animals in an unstable society.
People enchanted and mesmerized by this culture are like drunken sailors on a fully seaworthy ship jumping into the cold frozen depths of human exceptionalism believing progress lies at the bottom of the sea where we shall find a utopia that can’t, and never will exist. All that exists is a fatalistic, bleak and gloomy future of morbid darkness and a miserable silence filled with a tragic and lonely despair.
Our real paradise lives in connection to the Universe, in connection and kinship with the nations of all beings.
Our reality is aligned with the wild.
The wild is where our hearts were born and dwelt for most of our species time on earth. It’s where every fibre of our being and spirit grew from, with stories of kinship with the land and water and the wild is where we return when we pass away.
We need new stories that focus on the wild world and not on humanity. The wild world is a world where the natural cycles of destruction and creation that sustain us, nurture us and feed our body and spirit are. We need to embrace this reality with receptiveness, enchantment and engagement.
To be born into this richness is to be living in reality and a source of reverence. There is a divinity flowing throughout the flowering cosmos. We are surrounded and imbued with divinity, a cascading force of wonder, beauty and sacred sublimity. It’s our inheritance being taken away, a tragedy right before us, smothering the wild within and around us by a greedy, indifferent and callous culture.
The ten beating hearts show us the wild connection is always there no matter how deeply buried and can never be broken.
This week whilst walking through the garden I saw what I found out later to be a Red Velvet Mite. She was walking over a dug over potato patch with gusto and purpose. Having never seen anything quite like it I couched down to observe her wanderings.
Mites are a species of Arachnid that have evolved over nearly 400 million years.
As I watched this intrepid little creature struggle over the upturned soil I thought of the history her ancestors had witnessed. The never ending evolving earth changes and all the creatures that have lived and gone around them. I thought about the place of this precious and strikingly beautiful animal in the amazing dance of evolution thus far and wondered after all this time whether they will survive the human generated sixth mass extinction event unfolding around us now. I began to muse about the human culture of self-centered worship and how this selfish ego driven worship is at the centre of most of the misery that’s occurring in the world to this day and how this culture is clinging to worn out and obviously erroneous belief structures even when it’s painfully clear for all to see they don’t work, and indeed are the reason for the cascading failures of their society.
Having embraced totalitarian agriculture thousands of years ago the stories of human centredness evolved, eventually excluding all non-human life and indeed other human cultures that still lived in alliance with a Universe centered worldview. The gods of the harvest made way for a monotheistic transcendent god fashioned in human likeness and divorced from the biological reality of existence. Eventually scientific secularism turned the last vestiges of a living world into a cold inanimate machine further divorcing humanity from Nature.
It’s here we stand today, with our inherited biological blasphemy looking around at the continuing destruction of our very pillar of existence, the natural world pursued with a fervor held in place by destructive stories of anthropocentrism. This culture of disconnection barely notices the mass extinction going on about them as they argue over self absorbed politics and religion, all manifestations of a failed and inflated ego. They fail to notice or even care about the non-human life vanishing about them with barely a sound coming from the hysterical ranting’s of a deluded human culture.
The few human souls who fight for Nature are lost in an ocean of indifference and distain by those focused on their favourite political fantasies or the trivialities of religious irrelevance.
All of this narcissistic energy turned inward is wasted and leads only to meaningless outcomes that have no bearing on the realities of dying eco-systems. Indeed even seemingly well meaning diversions into so called green energy result in the same outcomes as they too are born from the stories of alienation from Nature. They are all human focused.
Our biological inheritance is being smothered in courtrooms, voting booths and battlefields, poking accusing fingers at each other over who said what to who. Meaningless drivel for those trapped in lives of meaningless self absorption.
The priorities of this egotistical culture are killing them along with all other life on earth yet their myths of disconnection to Nature keep them tethered to the death cult of civilization.
I see no way this descent into oblivion can be steered safely to the shores of sanity. It has way too much momentum in the hands of the deluded and ill informed. We are only metres from the iceberg.
The other side of this collision with reality can only succeed if the stories are changed. They need to be stories of acceptance of all life, living with respect, reverence and co-operation with all life on the planet.
We need to have a spiritual connection to the community of life and a sanctuary of spirit within the incredible beauty, power and awe inspiring sublimity of Nature.
Like a grotesque monster, civilization has become a being in its own right. It survives by feeding off the natural world in a way that is alien to all other life and indeed even stones themselves, the bones of the earth.
It has gained an identity above and beyond those who dwell as trapped humans in the bowels of its atrocities and mostly wallow with glee through the sickness of its heart and the tangibility of its retched productions. The love and connection to the old ways, the ways of the spirits and the way of the Universal spirit are gone or at least subdued in the world of self exaltation.
Where has the God of the wild places gone? Is it hiding in the darkness of the forest waiting to be rediscovered by a humanity who has cast it afar and embraced the deluded and frozen poisonous mist of themselves as God and their magical frolics with glowing screens and malicious dreams of progress? Where does the mystery hide in their cold world of sterility and a bankrupt consciousness.
The music of the Universe has left their souls and the darkness has filled their sensibilities with superfluous musings and exhibitions of arrogance. It has been a long time that a soft whisper of wind has graced their skin and awoken a deep connection to the Universal spirit. The shadows have grown deep and despairing over these final days of human folly and the earth has grown tired of a species that considers itself above its winged, swimming, slithering, crawling or hopping kin.
In so many mystical places I’ve stood and let the thoughts consume me of humanities great forgetting, the shallow husks walking as lost beings, abandoned wraiths devoid of the angelic mysteries and sublime splendour of the universe about them. The hysterical howls emanating from the hollows of their hearts and the vacuous hallucinations of their pillared pride assailing the natural world with greed and apathy. The cold hearts abound in the end days building ever more glass palaces, icons of arrogant meditations, castles of conceit.
Why shouldn’t they in their eyes?
They have conquered the earth and look with greedy hearts to the Universe. They have slain the truth that is buried deep within their hearts and now their demented poisoned souls make desirous yearnings for universal plunder and destruction. They have chained the natural world to the rack of their own warped justice and forced it to jump through hoops as they sit as grinning clowns in a circus freak show of their own making, eating popcorn and gorging their bloated guts and egos on natures rapidly diminishing bounty.
The single species asylum is here and it’s filled with the lies of progress, heralded by flashing lights, fireworks and selfies whilst nature is locked safely away in a cage where the truth is shackled in bloody chains, stricken and dying. This culture of insanity is here to proclaim the delusions of its fearlessness, its prominence and its superiority before an earth that doesn’t speak its tongue. It’s culture forgets nature doesn’t speak its language and doesn’t subscribe to one species erroneous notions of its own magnificence nor its churlish pomposity.
It may have forgotten or torn asunder the sacredness and sanctity of nature but it has brought upon itself the dark clouds of reckoning. For the spirits elemental manifestations are firing back in the war this lost culture of deception unleashed upon it thousands of years ago.
Look about you and tell me if you think this culture can win…………………………………………….
Its bones will be bleached under the sun and in moons glow and the crumbling towers of the final empire will shortly become nests for whatever creatures can call earth home after the maelstrom of civilization has vanished.
Ego has no place in a Universe that demands humility.
Few people in the world live truly free lives. There are pockets of hunter-gatherers scattered about the planet in ever decreasing numbers but the majority of the exploding mass of humanity are caged by the insane monster of industrial civilization. Shackled by psychological manipulation to live lives divorced from their animal bodies and instincts they are bound by societal demands to live in total domestication. It’s a culture bound by thousands of years of indoctrination that cannot be reformed. By its very nature it can’t. The infrastructure that sustains it also informs it, a cultural disease in both psychological and tangible manifestations. The notion of human superiority is too ingrained in the collective psyche to be challenged. We are led to believe that humanity is the pinnacle of species evolution, the crown of all life that has ever existed. We believe the Universe is here for humanities exclusive use and we have gone about our lives exactly as if that is the truth. A Universe to be conquered, pillaged, raped and poisoned.
To the few souls who see through these societal enforced lies a most confronting horror exists. Its seeing the Emperor has no clothes, it’s coming to terms with the reality that the majority of humanity is living in a bubble of beeping machines and glowing gadgets as the biosphere is being turned into a hazy mess of human squander and arrogance. The blanket of civilization has smothered humanity so thickly that one can see it almost everywhere one steps. It’s on the vacant zombies faces of aimless shoppers spending their precious lives surrounded by neon lit signs designed to catch them as a Venus flytrap would catch a fly.
It’s the words of the vacuous incantations of the politicians begging to the equally exasperating public who themselves are enveloped in a cocooned comatose stupor to vote for them. It’s on the faces and billboards of slimy advertising agencies and their spokespeople begging the deluded public to buy the latest round of tedious trinkets to quell the vivacious appetites of a brainwashed society. It’s there every time a television is turned on. A feast of celebrity narcissists performing like Gods and Goddesses to the self loathing and stupefied masses only too eager to lap it up and post it on social media along with the previous nights dinner so they can feel wanted in a society cold and indifferent to them and their lives.
Even in the age of information, available at the click of a switch which warns them of impending misery, hardship and collapse humanity is drunk on the so called glory of the industrial holocaust even though all the evidence is around them to the contrary and available on the very screens of their phones telling them that all is not well.
Technology has always divorced humanity from the realty of their existence and as we dive headlong ever more quickly into it we become convinced that the only solution to any ails or ills confronting us is more technology which only exacerbates the situation by divorcing us further from reality and the continuing destruction of the planet and ultimately the Universe. I say Universe because if this insane culture ever manages to colonize another planet for any length of time it will plunder it for all the reasons I’ve mentioned above.
The arrogance of this culture cannot be reformed due to the very nature of it being one of conquest and narcissism at its very core. Civilization is a deformed societal situation based on coercion, dominance and greed. It cooperates with no other species and acts as an alien upon the earth and from the perspectives of free humans and all other life that is unfortunate enough to live along side it, it is indeed alien.
Until this culture passes and a reconnected one rises, to the masses, the Spirit is silent.
There is a dark stain on the soul of humanity that has lingered for thousands of years. A creeping alienation of spirit that has cast it’s shadowy evil over all in encountered.
This was the success of Abrahamic world view.
It drew all into it’s sick world of domination and hierarchical atrocities. The same sickness still exists and indeed thrives, pursuing the minds and hearts of those unable to find a way out of it’s maze of lies, propaganda and life shattering predatory depravity. It cloaks itself in a veil of righteousness while it wallows in an ocean of confusing contradictions that strangle all who come within it’s reach. It’s tentacles spread everywhere as it splits into splinter groups all espousing the same mantra of disconnection from Nature, casting sanity to the ether in the hope it can never be found and turned against it. It calls reality evil and transforms fantasy and insanity into the new reality.
The disconnection is all too clear in Genesis 1:26 and 1:28 where human domination over Nature is a given.
A series of writings from obscure authors written hundreds to thousands of years ago and lost to the mists of time. Written in times where most of the worlds cultures, flora and fauna were unknown and where localized tribes were the only source of knowledge. Stories of fanciful mythology morphed into the reality that was to guide lives for thousands of years to come. One story among a myriad of stories but one that took root and spread it’s toxic life destroying prison of the soul where ever it’s adherents roamed.
This is the dominant worldview that persists today and can be found skulking in it’s venomous villainy in Abrahamic religious houses spread upon the earth.
It is a driving force of human domination over the natural world, producing fallacious stories that gave legitimacy to the spiteful, vengeful and domineering gods of disconnection from Nature.
They are stories that keep a large population of humanity in a mind numbing stupor to this day and inhibit any meaningful change as time closes in on humanity’s options of survival.
This notion of human superiority has spilled over from the Abrahamic religions into the secular world under the guise of human progress via a materialistic and mechanistic worldview. Human supremacy runs rampant through a powerful psychological abnormality keeping their culture of detachment from reality spinning out of control like a tornado taking out all in it’s path, human and non-human alike.
Those on the fringes of the culture can see it but are mostly powerless to halt it. Many see it but dismiss it as the “price of progress”. Others wallow with glee in it’s vileness never understanding they are trapped zombie like behind a mask of unhinged lunacy. The Abrahamic stories of destruction have long fingers that have reached deeply into the minds and insecurities of billions of people and turned them into shallow husks of what could have been.
Here we stand before the final curtain comes down and the stories of domination are calling for more of the same. As we hurtle through this tunnel visioned delirious frenzy the severance from Nature increases, the demons that inhabit the poisoned minds of it’s faithful reinforce the mass delusion of human exceptionalism and the houses of worship along with the boardrooms of the techno worshipers writhe in the ecstasy of their own noxious stories never realizing it is taking them to their doom.
To them the beliefs of a world of spirit dwelling within Nature is a curiosity, a bizarre belief from a bygone era. Yet it was this way humanity lived for hundreds of thousands of years before the brief blip that brought us to the current state of disconnection from Nature.
The Abrahamic culture, and later the secular culture that birthed in it’s wake is now reaping the consequences for it’s fight against Nature and thus ultimately itself.
Its adherents locked in rooms or wandering the dark cold hallways in the crumbling mansion of madness.
The rooms too are dark and full of struggle, lunacy and lost souls.
They are filled with the screaming of the psychologically bewildered, the crying of the mentally shattered and the incoherent scattered garbling of the spiritually suffocated.
When humanity removed the divinity of the Universe from its storylines and built a new culture with a god in its own image it imprisoned itself, wrapped itself in a cocoon of doom and delusion.
Led by the harbingers of disunion with the Universe and severance from the sacredness and unity of Nature, dark hearts cloaked in dark robes roamed the lands searching for souls to devour. A bible in one hand and a sword in the other they forced their poisonous toxicity with violent coercion whilst waving their holy book of diabolical deception at all they encountered.
Over time the sphere of separation from the Universe grew and with it the misery and torture from the so called holy men. Any who would not bow before their god, prophets and words of hatred were slaughtered in their name.
Wickedness and malevolence masquerading as holiness and righteousness. They would not rest until the hearts and minds of the wild and free were decimated or smothered and subservient to their written texts of blind obedience. The ways of the wild were being lost, forbidden by frozen souls.
The wild tribes the world over assaulted by ignorance and arrogance, their worldview suppressed and their lands plundered.
The wild voice was silenced.
No longer did Nature sing to them.
No longer did the stars speak to them of the mysteries of the Universe.
No longer was the earth their mother.
No longer did the Spirit dwell in the wild places and in the hearts of all beings.
A dark and haunting specter was cast over beauty and strangled the living with a choking grasp of hatred.
Its ever reaching tentacles of misery clawed its way across the earth turning the living into the dead.
Despair, disconnection and blind compliance replaced resilience, sensuality, harmony and rapport with the divine Universe. The earth became a barren, dying shadow, a wasteland continually plundered by the callous and deranged zealots of Jehovah and its demented inheritance.
Even those who after time broke free from the shackles of the bible, that binding book of madness inherited its ideals of alienation and disconnection from Nature. Secular society embraced the fallaciousness and hostility of human centeredness that thrives within the cult of the Judeo-Christian traditions. It adopted Genesis 1:26 – 1:28 on its crest of conquest inherited from the bellowing bishops and the shrieking priests and having turned a living, diverse, vibrant and sacred planet into dead resources via a maelstrom of violence continued the pillaging.
The few shattered remnants with earth based ancestral knowledge struggled to exist in a culture of hazy prophets, a vengeful egomaniacal god and avaricious swindlers in holy garb finally surrounded by a neon lit madness and the tiresome monotonous droning of an android resembling humanity addicted to technology, machines that usurp their souls and hoping that their new technologies will allow their plundering of the Universe to go on.
They now stand within a whirlpool of bedlam upon a burning planet trying to save themselves from themselves by clinging to the same worn out concepts of human superiority and earthly estrangement as they wander like forsaken phantoms through the ever darkening hallways and rooms in the crumbling mansion of madness.
When the dust has settled the Abrahamic culture will be gone, dust upon the bones of it’s temples, a relic slowly ground into the earth by the power of the Universe. Myths born from human arrogance ironically eliminated by it’s own hand.
This morning I stood staring at a waning moon before the sun arose. The silence of the stars was awe inspiring.
I never tire of the way the Universe connects to my heart, the way the Universe speaks to my soul. It’s something I find few people share and most of those who do so see no contradiction in that and the abysmal theatre of civilization. This is the tragic calamity of late stage industrial civilization.
There is deep within us all a connection to the sacredness of nature, a holy embrace that has slowly been quashed until all that is left is a shallow shadow of humanity walking the earth as aliens. The spiritual realm is lost as humanity focuses on itself as its sole source of reference, the one and only source of grandeur and divinity. We are taught not to honour anything outside of human achievement and thus elevate ourselves to gods.
I admit to having no understanding of this worldview even though I was born into it and indoctrinated with its ideals. It now holds no relevance to my beliefs, its alienation from nature has no mooring in my heart nor will its arrogance be entertained at my table. My life is surrounded by the nations of all beings that we as a species live with. Civilization has lost that connection as it pursued its path of assured self destruction amid a planet of glorious wonder and richness. To me every waking moment instills me with a deep sense of reverence and divinity as nature closets my heart. The smallest insect holds within it the sacred divinity, the spark of energy that flows through the Universe and manifests as sunrises, sunsets, mists, cricket song, whale song, moss on ancient rocks, waterfalls, the smell of soil after rain, the howl of a wolf and the warm sun on ones skin. Most people can relate to these things but sadly most don’t hold onto them before sinking back into the murky soul draining quagmire of civilizations mental and spiritual prison.
The deep connection that the hunter-gatherer cultures had with their world became with civilization one of division between nature and the sacred, between being one with all life to being one devoid of real connection outside the flimsy and hollow world of humanity. Indeed they denied their own humanity instead pursuing a psychotic vision of progress that has led life on earth including humanity to the edge of destruction and is now pushing more and more life over the cliff into extinction. Its arrogance has shut out the stars, the oceans, the forests, the winds and the realms of the non human world except that which it can plunder and now it thrives in an artificial world, a mental asylum. It has created a tomb for us, a hollow mesmerizing misery.
I do not share humanities vision of itself. I have no love of its skyscraper monuments to themselves nor their constant back slapping arrogance and their warped visions of their own perceived magnificence and invincibility. Every time I wonder whether the crassness of this culture could possibly get anymore obscene it turns yet another corner in its long winding road of sorrow and despair and proves it can indeed. It’s a culture of clowns fed lies that are reinforced with passive inducing smoke and mirror deceptions.
It has forsaken the wild.
The wild is what is real, the wild is what informs all life except those humans trapped in the narcissistic death cult of civilization. The wild is the house sparrow making a nest in roof guttering, the wild is a small seedling breaking through the crack in a crumbling road, footpath or the side of a building. The wild is a lizard hanging on a wall or rock waiting for an insect for dinner. The wild is the water making its own course unhindered as a river or creek and the spider weaving its web in the late afternoon. Have you ever sat and watched a spider weaving its web? It’s a holy experience beyond words and one that evokes a deep sense of the sacred. There is an intention, an expression of divinity in everything nature does. By intentionally and consciously embracing nature and all her creatures you are partaking in something so much larger than self or ego. You are opening your heart to the sacred Universe.
The creatures of all nations are my kin, my family, my inspiration, my world. The energy that gave them life also gave me my life and one day shall also receive my last breath.
I am honoured to be another creature living in a divine Universe.
I spend a lot of time musing about this culture and its relationship to nature.
It has led me to believe that most people have very little grasp of reality, a significantly debased personality and an absence of being a well rounded complete human being. I look at the natural world then back at this culture and I see something so sadly lacking it profoundly saddens me. Ticker tape parades and reality TV shows appear to be all most people in this culture can aspire to. It’s an empty, hollow and miserable end to millions of years of evolution of our species.
As the skies grow dark over this culture and indeed perhaps our species, the results and reflections of our disconnected way of living , borne of our disconnected hearts, are becoming glaringly obvious.
What should be done? What can be done?
Of course this disconnection and our cocooned way of life can only mean we respond in one way. More poisonous remedies that won’t challenge the dominant paradigm, won’t challenge the basic fundamental question of how we got to be in this distressing mess, this hall of mirrors, is the only way this culture can respond or proceed.
I don’t often listen to mainstream media however I happened upon an article about the current thorn in the side of industrial civilization, climate change. Hysterical ranting and raving of something that should have been spoken about and the reasons behind it long ago for reasons I shall I expand on later.
They speak of fossil fuels and how we need to rapidly transition to so called green renewable technology, the whole movement standing on soap boxes of delusion in holier than thou broadcasts, one after another assured in their anthropocentric bellowing beliefs that their psychotic hallucinations are true, such is the mental prison of civilization. They point bony fingers of accusation to all who will listen but they too are caught in the tentacles of delusion. It has become a god in its own right and it’s devoured them to such an extent they can’t see the light outside their mental prison.
All of their ceaseless searching misses a crucial point, the most important point that is lost to almost all of them.
Climate change is a symptom of a dis-ease within the collective psyche of civilized humanity. It is one issue among many many issues such as expanding deserts, soil erosion and salinity, mass species extinction, pollution and oceans full of plastic. These are all symptoms of a culture that is divorced not only from the earth and her creatures but alienated from their very selves. A disturbed and distraught soul who cannot relate to life other than itself and cannot aspire to anything other than destruction, plunder and further self ennoblement.
Climate change isn’t something that needs to be addressed by itself but needs to be used as an example of what a continuation of this culture will continue to bring. This cultures panacea is more of the same, more of what has driven this planet to the point of melt down. It will continue to be so as long as we let the God of industrial civilization continue to be the gleaming idol on our plastic altars of worship. While the idolatry of wind farms that kill birds, solar farms that hog wild habitat and electric cars rolling in ever increasing numbers over paved over forests and grasslands continue to wallow in the demented delirious wits of dullards then the destruction and misery of nature is assured. This culture does not have the maturity to act on natures behalf. It holds close to its heart an adolescent narcissism that leads it to believe only it and it alone can solve a problem via their own warped illusions and whilst believing such immense insanity the planet will continue to die under the heavy foot of spiritual alienation.
I implore you not to listen to them for they tell false stories.
They are deceiving you with offerings of fools gold for your soul.
Listen to the Gods of the wild, the chorus of the Universe and you shall be taught the truth.
The majesty of creation is the wind under the beating of a butterflies wings, it is the air under the softly treading pads of a cats step, it is the horses breath on a cold winters morn and the leaf heavily pregnant with a rain drop before it slides off and kisses the moist soil to become one with it, nourishing it.
Listen to the wind song through pines, be inspired and informed by bird song, let your heart be invaded by the meandering musings of a quietly chuckling creek, let the vigilance of your being be entwined by the silence of a cathedral forest and the sight of a mountain rising before you be a reflection of the power of the Universe in your heart.
It will fill your heart with spirit, with a truth that you will know intuitively when the mask of fallacy crumbles and the mist clears before your eyes.
There can be no healing of this planet unless humanity heals its own heart and reconnects to the Universe in a sacred way. We need to reconnect to our non human kin, to the oceans and the lakes, the rivers and the rocks, the deserts and the stars. We need to remember a lost reality that lies latent in every human heart and something all of our ancestors knew from birth and lived by before the myths of dominance and human progress smothered us. It’s something the indigenous cultures still know. They know that living with nature is a sacred way to live. It gives physical, mental and spiritual stability and allowed them to thrive for thousands of generations.
This culture is poisonous to all creation. We are living in a culture that doesn’t work, a culture that cannot by its very belief systems work. It is failing the natural world and it’s failing the people trapped in the culture itself. It cannot be saved nor reformed as the cultural psychology can never let that be as it’s based on domination and greed.
For the sake of life on earth this culture needs to end, not be invaded by an army of wind turbines in a mad march of delusion and a technological fantasy to keep the nightmare going. This culture needs to either evolve into an all species embrace or expire, relinquish its selfish grip on it’s perception of reality.
We need to become who we were, organic beings living in community with the non human nations in a relationship of mutuality and connection.
We need to re-enchant ourselves with the Universe, we need to live simple lives of humility and embrace all creation as our kin and the Universe will bestow the love we once had upon us and we shall be shown the road home.
As a child I heard the echo of the howl from thousands of years ago enter my heart and in dread I looked about in bewildered suspicion.
A screaming howl of torment, misery, hurt and terror dwelt in that howl under a moon that shone down upon a once thriving earth in increasing despair. The howling echo carries to the moon as nations of all beings quake in fitful sadness at the sight of the two legged hairless ape that destroys all it encounters.
Humanity had cast away their connection to the Universe and a new world flourished in their own minds, their own image devoid of wonder. A world of selfish plunder, arrogance and hatred.
Civilization, humanities erroneous savior infiltrated the psyche of humanity and cast its tragic shadow over the earth. The deception enveloped all who came into contact with it like a creeping shadow.
Stories of grandeur, dominance, entitlement and progress soon filled the hearts and receptive minds of the captured. They stood aloof refusing to hear the cries and screams from the nations of all creatures. They turned their collective backs on their connection to the land, the soil that grows their food, the air that fills their lungs and the water that quenches their thirst. They refused to stare into the eyes of the Universe and concede to the reality of their own existence.
Losing all identity and connection their culture turned within and humanities very essence was absorbed into psychologically deformed narcissistic stories of its own nobility. Talking to itself, about itself and taking pictures of itself it sank into the quagmire of despondency, decadence and indifference to all other life forms about them.
It went insane…………………………………….
It forgot how to listen to the wind, the ocean, the trees and the creatures that they share the earth with. Humanity forgot no creature, including itself can exist outside of the Universe. It became an insane wretched court jester in the kingdom of sanity, a kingdom now overrun by a culture fixated on itself in a warped dance of obscenity.
The howl from the nations of all creatures still reverberates within my heart. My kinship to all life is my companion away from the insanity however the court jesters and their deluded and clownish antics have now shrouded the earth with their lunacy so I retreat to the shadows of the Brigalow trees and pray for the jesters demise.
Those days loom near as their madness leads them ever closer to the cliffs edge. The colourful jesters dancing in a dazed ecstasy over the cliff of no return, holding hands and taking photos of themselves as they enter the darkness and hollowness that are the reflections of their own hearts.
The deepest tragedy is the nations of all creatures they are taking with them in their plunge. A few free minds still dwell in the mists away from the insane and fanciful worlds of the jesters, in the background that see and feel the misery.
Winds whisper upon ones cheek, a kiss from the Universe.
The birds chortle in ones ear, the voice of the Universe.
The smell of soil and water, an embrace of the Universe.
A sunrise, the Universe greeting ones soul, a connection to something so holy.
The sunset a gift before slumber but also a heralding demise as the Universe swallows an aberration, the Charybdis devouring the leaking galleon of estrangement.
A descent into darkness, a hell they thrive in and one they cannot escape from, nor do they wish to.
Yet a misery, a tragedy of heart is exposed to the few human souls that can hear the wretched plight of the nations of the finned, the winged, the slithering, the crawling and the legged.
A new day will dawn when the water recedes, the smoke clears, the winds die away and the first chirps echo in the ears of new birth and the insect scurry heralds a new era of rebuilding after the crumbling facade of civilization has been exhausted and the ruins of misery have given their final sigh of resignation.
Every step I take in this culture, every sight I see in it and every word I hear spoken in its defense reinforces my belief that we live in a culture of blasphemy against our very own lives. We believe our lives are an autonomous existence but we are in fact products of indoctrination born from poisonous minds that share little semblance to reality. We have had our nurturing as earthlings torn from us by our disconnection, a disconnection taught to us by our parents, our neighbours, the so called educational system and by the very cement under our feet.
From my own experience of these spirit quashing walls of horror and misery I’ve never felt any form of ecstasy of life experience within them. They have presented themselves as the human obsessed prison they in fact are. This culture can teach you about steel, concrete, physics, the building blocks of life, split the atom to serve itself and the “discoveries” as if things hadn’t existed before the deranged ape found them, however what it can’t teach you, as it doesn’t know and can never know, is spirit.
It thrives on the material whilst ignoring the world of the wild spirit……………….the mists, the darkness, the sunrise, the birdsong and in doing so has achieved the ultimate in its aims, domination and destruction of the wild lands, the truly holy lands. This whole culture is not just an alienated absurdity but an infantile one also.
It is a fake, a thief in the darkness whilst you were asleep. It has stolen your heritage, your dignity, your inheritance and your connection to the Universe and especially the earth, our mother.
Instead of being content with the holiness of creation and all her vibrant wild musings and esoteric magic we are left with an inverted and monotonous mono-culture of self serving imbeciles barely able to recognize any life outside of its own grotesque and devouring world of misfits, killers and dysfunctional morally arrested shadows of a true humanity.
We have turned vibrant forests into lumber yards and vast plains into human feed lots, the oceans into wind farms and plastic dead zones and the sacred deserts into seas of solar panels in an attempt to prolong the inflated sense of human supremacy, the holocaust of spirit, and fuel our hurtling insanity further into the depths of the madness that’s now imbued in our collective hearts as we circle the rim of the whirlpool of our own extinction.
I feel humanities very soul is now already close to extinct………………….forsaking the humble, the sacred, to glorify the absurd and grotesque. We now revere the obscene, hail the macabre and wallow in the repellent wretchedness of our own reflections. Only a creature so thoroughly divorced from its own collective soul could live as such. A detestable signature of madness basking in the glowing images and stained glass windows of itself and its vacant reflections in the mirror of creation.
As a new year rolls in the comatose musings of a lost species will revel in the glory of their own hallowed existence as a new decade unfolds before their inane hearts and sunken souls, yet few can see nor hear the approaching justice that the Universe is serving them. There is no human sadness as deep as this, the failure to comprehend what is before us.
The kingdom of God is not some place we retire to when our bodies succumb to the ravages of time…………………….it is here on this planet we were born upon. We don’t face our maker after we whisper our final breath on earth. There is no one waiting for us to present ourselves and our inflated egos to the pearly gates.
However, herein lies a most amazing and awe inspiring realization if one would allow such a humbling and subtle muse to infiltrate your heart. We are all sacredly connected to something way bigger than humanity. We are connected to something way bigger than this most homely, bountiful and gorgeous planet. We are connected to the very fibre of the Universe itself……………………………………
The wild Gods of yore are manifestations of the forces of creation, the wildness that we ourselves really are and indeed is all creation. The most amazing revelation is the one revelation we should all become fundamentalist about. The Universe is our God, our sacred temple and all creation our kin. We have sadly lost this connection as we wallow in the depravity of a culture that shreds our intimacy with creation and pulls the cloak of deception over our being and the curtain of lies over our true culture, a culture connected to the earth and the Universe.
I inhale the majesty of the mountains, the oceans, the forests and everything from the ants to the moon every single day of my life and relish the freedom of heart this affords me. It is a connection stolen from me by this culture of dissociation, human centred fundamentalism and warped ideals of human superiority and it has taken it from us all. It is a culture that feels little connection to anything other than itself.
It has forgotten itself.
Its base default is that of a killer, an agent of defilement, misery and death. Beauty, union and love are a foreign investment to dark hollow hearts. There is a fine line between the perceived sanity of this culture and the insanity of it. Most walk that fragile line, stepping on and indeed devouring bones of dinosaurs to keep the insanity at bay in the way of industrial civilization. As this culture unfolds into the madness it barely holds at bay every day of its existence it will explode into a fury it can never recognize. The swirling collective social psychosis of the hate filled misery of itself shall be the last incoherent estranged driveling of a lost and failed culture.
Hardly a soul in this culture can recognize their ancestry, hardly knows their organic heredity nor their sacred connection to the Universe. We have been lied to, hoodwinked and brainwashed into believing this is us, this is our ultimate realization, the ultimate lie, that all other life, billions of nations of creatures are subservient to us as humanity. We wander the halls of our vacant hearts rarely connecting to anything meaningful in nature all the time wondering why we as human beings, born of soil, water and stars are unfulfilled, killing ourselves in droves in lands surrounded by every comfort ever known. There is clearly something not comfortable in our hearts.
Alienation, grief, torment and destitution is the ultimate realization of industrial civilization and indeed civilization itself. It thrives on subjugating all other life forms to our sick fantasies of domination in manacles of misery, our souls wrapped in dark thoughts and sedated sorrow at the state of this cultures war against the Universe.
Dark times are here and they are still met with the arrogance, apathy and the total denial of thousands of years of indoctrinated conceitedness.
This had long ago sealed its fate even though few can see this. It is the ultimate insult to our holy home and the wondrous Universe that gave it to us.
This morning I relocated a Toad that was trapped. I put the Toad under some trees that I knew had a water source and where other Toads frequent. The area nearby was once habitat that was razed to make way for a housing estate.
Habitat loss by this culture that over populates, over consumes and over represents itself continues on a blind runaway ruinous march of death for non-humans and humans alike. This culture is trapped by its own negative, life-denying and erroneous assumptions and beliefs that have been passed through generations for thousands of years and has cocooned them leaving them as it’s sole source of reference to explain the world beyond. The indoctrination of this cultures values are powerful tools that keep us enslaved to it’s agenda. However we can change this outlook if we begin to explore the workings of the Universe and a whole new way of looking at life begins to emerge.
Nature is performing tiny miracles every single moment that most never appreciate or even remotely contemplate. Nature performs a miraculous magic show every second of the day, even in our own bodies that is enthralling and enchanting and it’s here where we can gain personal strength and escape this cultures strangulating besiegement of our souls. Nature can open our hearts and minds and once our hearts are open and connected to all life we can begin to heal both ourselves and be of service to our kin of flora and fauna.
It is easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the apathy and the virulent hostility this culture displays toward the natural world however even the smallest acts of kindness and connection make a difference for those involved. We need to look with eyes that feel, hearts that love and take actions that are compassionate and life affirming. By the tiniest acts of benevolence to other creatures we open ourselves to the divinity in Nature. We open our hearts to the Universe and we give recognition, respect and honour to the billions of years it has taken for those in need to have evolved to this point and to acknowledge and connect to the sacred within that creature. Every act of selflessness toward another being however small you may think it is becomes a statement of love and respect for that creature and the Universe as a whole. It is also an unconsciousness identification of the divinity that dwells within all Nature.
In these dark days most creatures need a helping hand. This culture has built human centered prisons around, under and over them and they become trapped by the towering manifestations of this cultures over inflated ego. Giving safety to a misplaced or lost creature may not save all of it’s kin nor save it’s species but it makes all the difference to that individual.
This horrific culture we are trapped in won’t voluntarily change its ways. It won’t suddenly realize it’s built on a foundation of lies, conceit and disrespect. It shall keep on its whirlwind path of destruction until the Earth ends it via resource constraints and climatic impediments.
We don’t know how the future will pan out, in which direction the disintegration will fall or at what velocity but without compassion and connection to the natural world there can be no rebuilding of a human community of any viability.
The crumbling city buildings, the monuments to this cultures ego, the ever spreading suburbs, a monument to the rampant over-population and the collapsing wind turbines, monuments to this cultures desperation to preserve it’s false sense of invincibility will slowly be consumed by Nature. Humanity, if it survives long term will no longer have the means of domination to poison, bulldoze or torment the non-human world.
Co-operation, union and kinship with the natural world is and will be the only sustainable way of life.
In the past few days I was witness to a profound experience.
I got to listen to the heartbeat in real time of a snake.
This experience reinforced my deep wonder and awe of the Universe and greatly inspired me. Listening to her beating heart, strong and sublimely present filled me with love and stirred in me the intense enthusiasm and gratitude I feel within for the ever unfolding cosmos. For here was a splendid creature that so many fear, that many ill-informed despise or wish harm that had a beating heart just like theirs. The incredible privilege to be able to hear this extraordinary sound served to fortify my wonder and love for the rich, diverse and powerful force that flows throughout the Universe.
As I listened I began to meditate on each beat of her heart. A thump thump thump that to me invoked a visualization of large mammals walking as herds across vast savannahs.
I could hear the beating wings of migratory birds flying for weeks in formation from place to place, knowing when and where to go via incredibly complex and ancient pathways.
I saw schools of fish swimming through bountiful oceans teaming with a vast diversity of life.
Each deep heartbeat conjured up visions of thunderstorms with lightning licking the Earth. I could hear the rain pattering down to a grateful ground feeding the fertile soil, pregnant with eager seeds and hopeful rivers surrounded by a richness of insects, birds and mammals waiting on the banks for their nourishment.
The sublimity of existence is a manifestation of the Spirit Force, the vitality of evolution and being that permeates all of Nature. The spirit dwells in everything from a grain of sand, a leaf, a river, a wolf, a stone, a planet and the stunning and precious beating of a snakes heart.
All is holy and sacred in Nature. Everything from a Tardigrade to the furthest Galaxy is connected, all one with the spirit of existence, imbued within our being, our essence.
The forces of Nature created us, nurture us and one day will take us whether we be a Hawk, a Reindeer, a Frog, an ocean or a Snake. Existence is a holy experience full of mystery and cosmic creativity from the flowering Universe.
Sadly the beating heart of this most magnificent snake, this most beautiful connection to my being stopped beating as she transitioned into the ethers to become new life. Her graceful and sacred existence will live again as her being rejoins spirit to become once again, as everything does, the formidable potency that is the Spirit Force. Our very existence is borrowed spirit, beautiful and hallowed sparks of creativity that manifest into existence only to ultimately dissipate, return, as even mighty stars do, to the sacred source of all being.
I will be forever grateful to hear the beating of a snakes heart.
In the eyes of the owl I hear the thunder of storms half a world away.
In the whisper of her feathers I hear the volcanic eruptions throughout the Universe and across the earth.
In her talons she grasps the branch of a tree that is entwined with soil thousands of years old, it’s limbs reaching for the stars hanging in the darkened skies. Two beings linked by a mutual essence. Both imbued by the richness of spirit flowing through all existence, a cosmic connection of sacredness.
The song of the Universe is sung by the sacred nations of all beings. The finned, the winged, the four legged, they who slither, the brilliant stars, the thunderous rivers and the majestic mountains all sing as one voice, one sublime choir burning with the ancient cosmic fire of becoming.
Standing in Nature in silence one can hear the voice of spirit speaking without words, without tongues, through birdsong, leaves gently rustled by the wind provoking intense musing and the ocean, seeking our heed, lapping lazily upon the shore. This is where we belong, where we came from and where we shall return.
The great mystery of spirit unfolds all about us.
A song being sung by an exploding star or a flowers petal opening to the warming rays of sunshine.
A crickets chirp is an ode to the spirit dwelling within, connecting to all about it with intent and intimacy.
A Universe so profound we recognize in the stars our own being, for they are our sacred siblings. Visual whispers from times past, present and pregnant with future promise.
The winds, creating and destroying, bringing new life whilst cleansing the old in the cyclical dance that never ceases. That which expires to become again one with the spirit, to live again in an eternal pool of divine energy.
The Universe performs a play of potentiality, each act something new and sublime, dancing tirelessly to the cosmic flourishing.
Every creature, every stream, rock and cloud alive with the potent fire of the Spirit Force, the energy of evolution, the manifestation of spirit, our inheritance, our existence and our legacy.
I never tire of the lessons Nature gives to me even though I’ve had the same lessons for many years they are still welcome in my heart. These lessons in silence tell me there is an unspoken connection that goes beyond our traditionally known 5 senses, something deeper, something mysterious yet familiar to the attentive. There is a veil, a curtain drawn that slowly lifts as awareness increases and we look beyond the superficiality of this culture of ego.
There lies the force of Nature, the creative energy of the Universe that pervades all creation.
It is the creator of worlds and the destroyer of worlds.
It is the myriad of bird calls, the breaching whales, meteorite showers and the birth of babies of all species including our own.
It is the incredible violence of volcanic eruptions and the leopard or Hunting Dogs taking down their prey.
It is also the gentleness of a butterflies wings and the small seedling breaking through the earth.
It is forever creating and forever destroying.
We too contain that spark of energy and return it to the Universe when we die and disperse our material remains as we slowly migrate into another form.
The sacred dance of Nature that never ends.
This Spirit of creation lies in the heart of the wild which the culture of the ego domesticates and controls never letting the freedom of the wild take away from this cultures love of itself and itself only. Even tiny so-called weeds get flooded with poisons. Nature became a resource to be plundered never something that gives us life. The earth becomes iron ore tonnage and trees become lumber measured in board feet. Their existence made solely material, the living turned into the dead.
To look with pantheistic eyes and hearts can make one a misfit or a heretic within the narrow streets of societal confines and conditioning.
I am happy to be called either by this culture of callousness.
I live every day surrounded by the miracles of Nature. The profusion of shapes and colours of the flora and fauna are gestures of the stunning richness and potent power of evolution. They are the manifestations of the Spirit, the animating force at work.
When we see the wild beauty of a spiders intricately woven web, the superb colouring of our feathered kin, the delicate wild beauty of a snowflake and the warming beauty of a meadow of wild flowers we are partaking in the dazzling dance of divinity that pervades the Universe and informs all it touches with open hearts.
Go beyond the 5 senses we were taught and observe the miraculous metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly and contemplate the billions of years of evolution it took for this to happen in your lifetime and in front of you.
The Spirit of the wild is there.
It invites you to listen, feel and to partake in the glorious lessons of union with Nature, not with the ego but with your deepest inner most connection with the Spirit within and without.
Never living far from the ocean I often visit and soak in the atmosphere smelling the air, hearing the waves and watching the ever changing patterns and colours as they evolve from a deep blue hue toward the horizon to a sparkling turquoise nearer the shore and finally dissipates into white foam as the ocean kisses the patient sand with a riotous roar. The Cormorants dive for their nutritious fare and the insects about me commune in intimacy with the seaside flora in the divine dance of life. An Egret stalks slowly with intent through the tall grass beyond the sand ever vigilant of the world about it.
I hear in my heart the song of the Universe as I bear witness to the sights, sounds and sensations of nature. I am absorbed by the sacred unfurling of existence that has saturated my heart. What surrounds me are the holy manifestations of the Spirit of the Universe, creation pervaded by the Great Mystery. Words do not exist to describe the wonder, beauty and glory of the Universe and the power of creation. Eternity cocoons my soul when it bears witness to the glorious sublimity of Nature. The power of the seed to push forth from the ground and reach for the heavens, the community of all beings to live their lives, the cleansing winds and rains, and the intricate dance of life is the Spirit of the Universe immanent in all creation.
In the embracing sun I feel thee upon my skin.
Upon the wailing wind I hear thee greet my attentive ears.
In thy wholesome gifts of succulent sustenance I taste thy presence.
With the gentle fragrant bouquet I greet thee in flowers and soil after rain.
I witness thee in the oceans, forests, mountains and in the nations of all beings. They are my kin, the spoken and unspoken voice of divinity.
Spirit of the Universe that dwells in all existence thou give to me my life and I proffer to thee my reverence, service and devotion.
